About This Resource: This reference deck presents Jeffrey Young’s 20 early maladaptive schemas, the deeply held patterns that form in childhood when core emotional needs go unmet and continue to shape thoughts, feelings, and behavior in adulthood. The schemas are organized into five domains: disconnection and rejection, impaired autonomy and performance, impaired limits, other-directedness, and overvigilance and inhibition. Each card names a schema, its core need, and a healthy adult counterpoint, giving clients a plain-language reference for recognizing their own patterns in session and between appointments. A client psychoeducation resource from Stafford & Associates Counseling.

Cover of a card deck titled 'Schema' with a subtitle describing it as a gentle reference deck for patterns and needs. Three sample cards are partially visible, showing words like 'Abandonment,' 'Nurturance,' and 'Healthy Adult.' The design is minimalistic with light, neutral background tones.
