At Stafford and Associates Counseling, we believe healing happens in many forms. Sometimes comfort comes through words, and sometimes through the quiet presence of a trusted companion. That’s where Brody comes in.

Brody has a calm, gentle spirit and a natural ability to help people feel at ease. Whether he’s greeting clients with a wagging tail, resting quietly by your side, or simply filling the room with warmth, he helps create a safe, welcoming environment for therapy.

Children and teens often connect quickly with Brody, finding reassurance in his unconditional acceptance. Adults appreciate his grounding presence, which can make it easier to talk through difficult emotions. Research has shown that therapy animals help lower stress and anxiety, and Brody demonstrates this every day through the comfort and calm he brings to our office.

Research shows that therapy animals can lower stress, reduce anxiety, and even help regulate blood pressure. More importantly, they help people feel more comfortable opening up and engaging in the therapeutic process. Brody has a knack for sensing when someone needs a little extra support — whether that’s resting his head on your knee or simply lying nearby while you talk. His presence helps clients feel less alone, more grounded, and more able to focus on their goals in therapy. Brody’s calm temperament makes him a wonderful companion for those who may be hesitant around dogs. While many clients love having Brody in the room, we always respect individual preferences. If you’d prefer not to have him join your session, we are happy to accommodate that.

Outside of work, Brody enjoys the simple pleasures of life, including long walks, belly rubs, naps in sunny spots, and playing with his favorite toys. We’re grateful for the unique way Brody supports our clients’ journeys. Whether you are visiting us for the first time or you’re a long-time client, you can count on Brody to welcome you with kindness and make your time in therapy feel a little brighter.
