Evening Couples Therapist (Specialty Practice)
Stafford & Associates Counseling Group is seeking a licensed therapist interested in specializing in couples therapy to provide evening appointments in our growing trauma-informed group practice.
Our clinicians work with couples navigating high-conflict dynamics, attachment injuries, betrayal trauma, and long-standing relational patterns.
This role is best suited for clinicians who enjoy complex relational work and helping couples move from reactivity to meaningful change. This position is ideal for clinicians who want to build a specialization in couples therapy and relational trauma.
Schedule
• Evening availability required (typically 4pm–8pm)
• Flexible scheduling
• Majority of session in-office
What You'll Do
• Provide couples therapy for relationship distress, communication breakdown, and attachment injuries
• Conduct relational assessments and develop treatment plans
• Work with complex dynamics including conflict cycles, emotional dysregulation, and betrayal trauma
• Maintain timely clinical documentation
Qualifications
• Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field
• Active or associate NC license (LCSW/LCSW-A, LCMHC/LCMHC-A, LMFT, or equivalent)
• Experience working with couples or strong interest in relational therapy
• Ability to hold structure with emotionally activated couples
Compensation

Requirements

Strong ethical standards and commitment to high-quality clinical care
Comfortable working with adolescents and adults (ages 14+)
Consistent, accurate, and timely documentation in accordance with professional and insurance guidelines
Reliable, professional, and client-centered in all interactions
Ability to work independently while also contributing positively to a supportive team environment
Strong communication skills with clients, colleagues, and administrative staff
Comfort with telehealth (if offering remote sessions)
Willingness to engage in ongoing learning and professional development
Compensation

Qualifications
Previous experience in mental health counseling, social work, psychology, or related fields
Familiarity with community mental health resources, referral pathways, and supportive services
Strong written and verbal communication skills, including clinical documentation
Ability to build rapport quickly and maintain a strong therapeutic alliance with diverse clients
Strong ethical judgment, professionalism, and adherence to clinical standards
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Comfort providing both in-person and telehealth sessions (if applicable)
Solid organizational skills and ability to manage a consistent caseload
Commitment to ongoing learning, growth, and evidence-based practice
Cultural humility and sensitivity when working with individuals from diverse backgrounds

This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Clinicians have flexibility and professional autonomy while partnering with the practice for referrals, office space, and administrative support.

Caseloads are based on your availability, goals, and areas of focus. We’ll work with you to identify an ideal range (for example, part-time or full-time) and grow your caseload over time.

We may offer periodic case consultation and peer support opportunities. Formal clinical supervision for associate-level licenses may be available based on supervisor capacity and fit.

We may consider provisionally or associate-licensed clinicians on a case-by-case basis, depending on supervision availability and practice needs.

We offer both in-person sessions in Mooresville and telehealth within North Carolina and South Carolina. Many clinicians choose a hybrid schedule based on their preferences and client needs.

You are welcome to bring existing clients if appropriate, but it’s not required. The practice provides referral support and marketing to help you build and maintain a steady caseload.
