About This Resource: This reference deck presents the twelve core emotional needs every child is born with, including safety, connection, autonomy, healthy limits, and room to play. When these needs are consistently met, healthy development happens and a child grows up feeling secure and worthy. When they go chronically unmet, through neglect, harshness, overprotection, or too little structure, schemas form to make sense of the gap. Each card pairs a felt-sense image with plain-language notes on how the need shows up, what happens when it goes unmet, and one direction toward healing. Naming the need is often the first step toward meeting it. A client psychoeducation resource from Stafford & Associates Counseling.
