Shaniya Turner
MSW, LCSWA
Warm, personable therapy for children (6+), teens, and young adults navigating grief, life transitions, anxiety, and depression. A steady person in your corner.
About Shaniya
Growing up, changing, and losing people we love can stir up more than a child, teen, or young adult knows how to carry alone. Whether it's grief, a big transition, a strained relationship, or the heavy pull of anxiety or low mood, having a steady person in your corner makes a real difference. You don't have to sort it out by yourself.
Shaniya is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker Associate who works with children ages six and up, teens, and young adults. She uses cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), systems theory, and a strengths-based approach — practical tools paired with a warm, judgment-free space. Her style is inviting and personable, and she moves at a pace that fits the person in front of her, so clients feel empowered and supported rather than rushed.
Her path into clinical work spans some of the most tender moments in a family's life. As a medical social worker in hospice and palliative care, she walks alongside patients and families through grief, loss, and end-of-life transitions — offering anticipatory grief counseling, bereavement support, and space for life review and meaning. Earlier in her career she served children and families through county child welfare and permanency planning, and as a school social worker across multiple schools, supporting students' academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs. That breadth gives her a deep, grounded understanding of how loss, transition, and stress move through a person and a family.
If this sounds like the kind of support you or your child has been looking for, she'd be glad to hear from you. Reaching out is often the hardest step.
